Genetic Technologies

Genetic Technologies Limited is a public company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX: GTG).

The Genetics Revolution

Every living thing has a genetic code made up of DNA. Variations in that code affect many aspects of our lives, for instance our height and weight, our susceptibility to some diseases, even to our performance potential in sport. Similarly, variations in DNA are responsible for much of the variety in the plants and animals around us. In the last few years science has made giant steps in understanding these variations. Through these advances, it is now becoming possible to understand, diagnose, treat and even prevent a vast range of diseases in humans, animals and plants.  These developments have the potential to make a major contribution to our future health and well being.

For nearly two decades, GTG has been at the forefront of ground breaking developments in this area of science, delivering tangible benefits from the advances of the genetics revolution.

Company History

Genetic Technologies was founded in 1989 and was among the first organisations in the world to recognise the value of non-coding (so-called ‘junk’) DNA.

Pursuing further research, GTG extended the novel findings from Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA) to almost all genes in all species. As a result of this visionary action, we have been awarded powerful and broad patents in the USA, Europe, Japan, Australia and other major countries.

Today, through an international patent portfolio, GTG licenses the methods of accessing important information contained in the non-coding DNA sequences.

GTG has a long and active history of involvement in basic research.  Indeed, the fundamental GTG intron sequencing and gene mapping non-coding DNA patents arose from basic research programs conducted on-site during the 1990s.

Current research programs include:

RareCellect®

ImmunAid
