Genomics Collaborative, Inc.
Genomics Collaborative, Inc ("GCI") was acquired by SeraCare Life
Sciences in June of 2004.
GCI has developed expertise in applying the science of human genetics to drug
and diagnostic discovery decisions. The Company's approach links human genes,
proteins, and clinical outcomes through proprietary technology platforms. GCI's
state-of-the-art technology offers a highly efficient method to validate
genomics-based drug and diagnostic targets, and has already been validated
through partnerships with more than 30 pharmaceutical and biotechnology
companies. GCI believes that to broadly apply targets to drug or diagnostic
development in the pharmaceutical market, they must be validated in human
populations.
The Company provides a powerful combination of resources through its target
validation program, GCI Access™. First, the program offers customized access to
GCI's Global Repository™ of appropriately consented clinical research material.
This includes human DNA, RNA, sera, and snap-frozen tissue samples linked to
detailed medical information collected from patient populations worldwide. To
date, the Company has recruited over 120,000 patients in building Global
Repository™, and prospective collections continue in various disease states.
Additionally, the GCI Access™ program offers customers expertise in proficiently
designing and conducting human genetic studies geared towards the development of
therapeutics and diagnostics.
Together with its study design, statistics, and analysis capabilities, GCI
offers a suite of high throughput genomic analysis tools, including: SNP
genotyping, DNA sequencing, RT-PCR, and gene expression analyses. These tools
can be applied to leverage the assets of the Company's Global Repository™ in
research settings. This combination places GCI at the forefront of the next
generation of target validation and drug discovery.
