Myriad
Myriad is a biopharmaceutical company. Our
strategy is to develop therapeutics in areas of critical need, to address
certain of the most pervasive diseases of our time. Alzheimer's disease and
cancer are among those for which Myriad has product candidates in human testing.
Myriad Genetics' research has three primary
objectives:
- Discovery and sequencing of genes related to
major diseases.
- Identification of upstream and downstream
genes to establish biochemical pathways.
- Determination of the function and activity of
proteins.
Most advanced drug candidate is
FLURIZAN™ for Alzheimer's
disease. We are testing this drug candidate in a large, double-blinded,
placebo-controlled and randomized Phase II clinical trial in patients with
Alzheimer's disease. The trial's 12-month term of study is scheduled to complete
at the end of March, 2005, with results due following data collection and
analysis.
Two anti-cancer drug candidates are in late stage
preclinical development at Myriad. Each causes cancer cells to commit suicide,
although the drugs act at different points in the process.
