Pyxis Genomics
Pyxis Genomics is a privately-held corporation
headquartered in Chicago, Illinois with offices in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. We
discover, develop and commercialize proprietary, genomics-based products and
solutions that enhance animal health and performance. By pursuing corporate
partnerships, this allows us to rapidly penetrate into the food animal and
companion animal markets. Pyxis is developing novel products in three sectors of
the agribusiness and health industries: Meat Traceability, Performance Traits
and Health Products. Pyxis is commercializing a unique and proprietary
high-throughput system for tracking animals and meat products throughout the
entire supply chain, from farm to fork. Currently under development are
performance trait tools for selecting animals and breeding lines with traits
that maximize production efficiency. Pyxis’ health products for assessing stress
and nutritional status and novel non-antibiotic treatments are in the pipeline.
Pyxis is creating a paradigm shift in the food animal production industry. This
effort has focused on products that provide solutions for enhanced food safety
and nutrition.
- Traceability Products: The pork traceability
panel licensed to Maple Leaf Foods provides the first integrated traceability
platform that is also applicable for beef traceability.
- Performance Trait Products: Trait assays are
being developed for specific input traits for meat and dairy. In collaboration
with a Norwegian company, Pyxis Genomics is developing SNP-assays for disease
resistance in dairy cattle. Pyxis Genomics is partnering with a Canadian
university and leading genetics company for dairy production.
- Health Products: Pyxis has exclusively
licensed peptides from Helix Biomedix for novel non-antibiotic therapies

Multiple positions are available for Senior
Scientists/Scientists (Ph.D./equivalent) and Associate/Assistant Scientists
(B.S./M.S.) to participate in our research programs of SNP and gene discovery in
agriculturally important animals. Qualified applicants with have a degree in
Life Sciences with expertise in genetic analysis, SNP discovery and analysis,
mRNA analysis and cDNA library construction, or high throughput sequence
analysis.
