Proteologics
Proteologics is an integrated biotechnology
company that specializes in the ubiquitin system. The company develops a new
class of small molecule drugs against major diseases based on ubiquitin ligase
inhibitors. Proteologics combines world-class knowledge of the ubiquitin system
with a unique platform that helps to discover the involvement of ubiquitin
ligases in diseases and develop inhibitors to them.
Proteologics pursues programs in several diseases
areas, with anti-virals being the most advanced. The company is currently
developing small-molecule inhibitors to the first of several E3
ubiquitin-ligases that it discovered to be essential to the life cycle of HIV
and other major viruses. Dramatically reducing virus infectivity, these
inhibitors are anticipated to be much more effective against the emergence of
viral resistance, the most acute problem in HIV therapy today. Furthermore,
initial evidence indicates that they are also effective against other enveloped
viruses, raising the prospect of an eventual broad-spectrum anti-viral drug.
Proteologics is an integrated biotechnology
company and is closely associated with some of the pioneering researchers of the
ubiquitin system.
